
It was a game played with alot of mistakes from both sides, with alot of turnovers and handling errors as well. Marist scored first with a try, which they converted making it 7--0, then Tyler Johnston kicked a penalty for Midlands making it 7--3 to Marist. Marist scored again, going out to 12 points to 3, But Midlands game back and scored a good backline try to Tyler Johnston, 12--8 to Marist. Not long into the second half Chey Hiko at fullback scored a good backline try, 13--12 to Midlands. A short time later Gus Paul for Midlands scored, which was converted by Brock Payne, 20--15 to Midlands. Five minutes out and Marist came back and scored and leveled the game at 20 all. With time almost up on the clock Midlands had a chance at a penalty which missed, then on the stroke of fulltime they got another chance at a penalty, and this time Tyler Johnston didn't miss, final score, Midlands 23 Marist 20. It wasn't a pretty game to watch, but Midlands stuck it out and game away with a win. Mitch Sim, Paul Emms, Ben McMaster and captain Nick Brown had good games for Midlands,along with Tyler Johnston, Scott Leader,and Brock Payne in the backs.
